For years I've struggled with anxiety mainly in social situations and at times i wouldn't leave the house at weeks at a time, About 6 months ago i started going to CBT therapy which has been very helpful for me, it teaches me to push myself and put myself into situations i find scary and make me anxious, i am finally beginning to enjoy being social with family and friends, this is a place i never thought i would get too.
CBT has changed my entire outlook. Last year i moved to a unfamiliar city and was scared to even venture into my garden, at the time it seemed like such a huge deal but since I'm doing much better these days it seems so minimal.
Being a parent i am now able to be more present for my child and socialise with other parents, my relationship with my son has improved tremendously now that my anxiety isn't taking over my life.
I'm so happy with the progress I've made and now i can provide a better life for both of us.
We always give ourselves a hard time, let's celebrate our achievements!
How CBT works -NHS.CO.UK
CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle.
CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts.
You're shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.
Unlike some other talking treatments, CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past.
It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.
